Why are you stopping?
You're de-registering your business
If you're switching to salaried employment or stopping your business for another reason, you no longer need to file VAT returns after completing this quarter. However, you will need to report the income from your business in your year-end tax return. Depending on several factors such as the length of time you’ve been in business, revenue, and other criteria, you may also need year-end financial statements.

You want to handle your administration yourself or have another accountant do it
In this case, you choose one of the options below depending on which tasks you still want us to complete. In all cases, we ask that you send us an email with the reason for your departure. This ensures that we deregister as your tax consultant, we are sure we perform the right tasks, and we can learn from your feedback if you were not satisfied.
When do you cancel your subscription?
Option 1 Cancel immediately - no more tasks
Email your team or info@thebookie.nl and request that they cancel your subscription immediately. We have a 1-month notice period. Payments will stop after this month, as well as our tasks. We will no longer file VAT returns or income tax returns for you. With your basic account, you retain access to your administration. You just need to download your VAT returns (pdf's).
Option 2 Cancel after the quarter - last VAT return
Email your team or info@thebookie.nl and request that they cancel your subscription after the last quarter payment (i.e., March, June, September, or December), and specify that we still need to file the return. Make sure you've clicked the 'updated' button on or before the 8th. We will not perform any further VAT returns or income tax filings for you.
Option 3 Cancel after the fiscal year - last income tax return
Regardless of whether your business is still registered or not, you can choose to let the subscription run until the end of the year. We will then file your income tax return (and possibly your fiscal partner’s) and account for other income, such as from salaried employment. By selecting this option, we will still complete your administration for a fixed fee.
NOTE: Email your team or info@thebookie.nl on time so that no deductions occur after December.
